The Baby in the Bough preview

Friday, April 25th, 2008

Not really sure if this counts as a spoiler, so I didn’t post the uber-huge black and red “spoiler logo” - so please be warned. Really, this is just the preview for this coming Monday’s episode The Baby in the Bough, so it shouldn’t be anything terribly spoil-y about it, unless you don’t even watch the previews. In which case, you get the drift.

Interview with Ian Toynton - Bones director

Friday, April 25th, 2008

Ian Toynton is definitely sold on the show. Makes sense since he’s a director for several episodes. As such, it’s his responsibility to make sure that the “tone” of the show stays consistent from episode to episode and director to director. In this brief interview he talks about the look of the show and his work with the sets as well as the cast. Toynton says that the show is a great one to work on because it has a little bit of everything - humor, romance, suspense, drama. Not to mention that the cast is great to work with. The relationships between the cast members - on and off the show - make for a good working environment, and the show reflects the delicate balance of the personal, more emotional relationships and the more procedural part of the show that comes from the drama of dealing with a serial killer.

Anyway, don’t take my word for it - see the video interview for yourself!

Ausiello’s Bones spoiler for this week

Friday, April 25th, 2008

spoiler-alert.jpg

Any week that Michael Ausiello talks about Bones is a good week. This time he’s got a scoop for us on Bones’ potential for “gentlemen suitors” as he calls it. Sounds a little shady to me, but that makes it just that much more juicy…
(BTW: Please Don’t Read if you don’t like spoilers - this “news” may not be the end-all-be-all for the show, but still. As if you couldn’t see the above warning!)

ed-casual.jpg

Question: Any and all Bones scoop, please? — Catherine
Ausiello:
Brennan will be juggling two gentlemen suitors in an upcoming episode — one who may or may not be married and one who may or may not be gay.

Can’t even begin to guess who the may or may not be gay character would be. Not really sure I’ve got an idea on the may or may not be married suitor either. This should be an interesting love…square? If you count Booth, Emily plus maybe married and maybe gay make four. Not exactly a love triangle, but hey, whatever works! Can’t wait to find out!

David Boreanaz’s old friend Amy Acker…

Friday, April 25th, 2008

I can’t imagine any fan of the show Angel not liking Amy Acker’s character Fred (Winifred Burkle). Her sudden addition to the cast after the crew rescued her from a hell dimension was a little odd, but it didn’t take long for her to find her place in the group who “helped the helpless.” She added just the right mix of “girl next door” without the glamour that Cordielia (Charisma Carpenter) had, but matched (and sometimes surpassed) the genius of Wesley (Alexis Denisof). When Fred was taken over by Illyria, we were heartbroken, but just as entralled to see where the new and improved version would take the show.

Now, David’s old Angel alumni is joining up with Joss Whedon once again in his new show Dollhouse. She’ll be costaring with another of the Buffyverse’s famous names - Eliza Dushku - who played Faith on both Buffy and Angel. Apparently there is a Battlestar Galactica star on board as well… According to the summary on IMDB, the show is going to be about “a top-secret world of people programmed with different personalities, abilities and memories depending on their mission. After each assignment — which can be physical, romantic or even illegal — the characters have their memories wiped clean, and are sent back to a lab (dubbed the “Dollhouse”). Show centers on Dushku’s character, Echo, as she slowly begins to develop some self-awareness, which impacts her missions.” Sounds pretty interesting… I may just have to check it out. (Like I need to watch more TV! But come on, this is Joss Whedon we’re talking about!)

Fox, and their stars, go green

Monday, April 21st, 2008

Seems like going “green” is the latest thing - but it’s definitely a fad that is worth while and I wouldn’t mind seeing it stick around! Fox network is doing their part with clips that offer practical and, more importantly, easy suggestions for ways to help do your part. With help from some of their show’s stars, they’ve got a series of clips that are short and to the point. So do your part - check out some of the videos and see if any of them fit your lifestyle. Who knows, you may be able to incorporate one of two of the ideas into your lifestyle and make a little bit of difference yourself!

Here is Bone’s TJ Thyne with a message about washing clothes a more economical way:

And here is Tamara Taylor with two videos - one on newspapers and one on using rechargeable batteries.

Episode 3.11 - Player Under Pressure

Monday, April 21st, 2008

spoiler-alert.jpg

Fox provided a few clips of tonight’s episode for those of us who can’t wait to see the actual episode. Looks like Booth and Bones will be butting heads once again. Tonight we get to see Player Under Pressure - the episode that was pulled last year due to the shootings at VA Tech. The episode is about a campus murderer whose victim is crushed by bleachers. Since the victim is a star basket-ball player for the school, Booth and Bones end up looking into the world of sports on a college campus and all the “racy lifestyles” the athletes live. And, as you can guess, Bones has her own very strong opinion about the forensic application of sports and the people who play and follow them…

In this clip, Bones expresses her frustration that her guest lecture wasn’t well received at the college.

In this one, Bones offends Booth by putting down athletes and adults who watch sports.

David Boreanaz talks on NHL Live

Saturday, April 19th, 2008

We all know that David Boreanaz was a blogger for the NHL last year. Well, he’s back again this year and is starting off his season with a great interview (from April 11th) with NHL Live that shows his complete love of the game, and the Flyers. He’s even sporting his Flyers shirt. How festive - wonder if he’s got crazy Flyers socks to go with it? Oh, and he’s even uploaded some shots of his tour of the NHL Headquarters and his opportunity to get some tips from a pro on his blog. He also uploaded this shot of his interview with NHL:

nhl-interview.jpg

They talk briefly about the show at the very end of the second video, but other than that it’s all sports talk - which, of course, is exactly what you’d expect on a sports radio show… Check them out below.

Ausiello’s season 3 spoilers

Friday, April 18th, 2008

I can’t help but be just a tiny bit jealous of Michael Ausiello and his access to the stars… But hey, someone’s got to have the job, and since I live on the wrong coast, it’s not gonna be me, and he does a good job, so kudos to him. Anyway, he’s got some scoop on Bones in this week’s Ask Ausiello that addresses the Gormogon killer and some of the other “news” we’ve been hearing about the upcoming Bones episodes. Be forewarned, there is serious spoilage ahead!

spoiler-alert.jpg

Question: Any scoop on why Bones would need a new forensic anthropologist? Is something going to happen to Zack? — Elizabeth

Ausiello: Sure sounds like it based on Fox’s official episode description for the May 19 season finale: “When a human jawbone shows up at the Jeffersonian, Brennan and the team quickly realize that the Gormogon serial killer has struck again. In a shocking turn of events, an explosion in the lab sends Zack to the hospital; Gormogon’s silver skeleton goes missing from the basement vault; and every Jeffersonian employee becomes a suspect, with the very real possibility that one of their very own may be working with the twisted and elusive serial killer.”

E!’s Kristin talks to Bones cast/crew at Paley

Thursday, April 17th, 2008

spoiler-alert.jpg

ed-hh.jpg
Emily Deschanel and Hart Hanson

The videos were great to see the cast and writers in their element, interacting with fans and each other, but Kristin from E! was able to chat them up before their panel at the Paley Center. They answer some pretty good fan questions about the end of Season 3 and a little bit about Season 4. And, as always, they leave us drooling and wanting more. Just another sign of a great show!

They discuss the episode that was pulled last year (that will air this year), the Gormagon, Angela’s husband and the potential for another wedding, the repercussions of Bones and Booth’s kiss, and the potential for more kissing. They also talk briefly about shooting an episode or few overseas in London and the storyline for Booth’s family - with the possibility of working in more story for his son.

This mysterious husband of Angela’s is sounding more and more interesting… and I’m curious if we’ll see more of Azura Skye who played Miss Plimset, the investigator who found the guy in Florida to begin with. She’s an odd character. (She also has background in the Buffyverse - as well as House, CSI, and Smallville, just to name a few.)

Anna in Oklahoma City: “Player Under Pressure,” the episode that was pulled last season, is scheduled to air this month. Did you end up shooting new footage to replace the Angela-Hodgins engagement scenes, or is the original episode going to air?

Conlin (Angela Montenegro): “We did shoot new footage. They were restricted by some of our haircuts and who had facial hair and who didn’t, so Tamara [Taylor] (Dr. Camille Saroyan) and I had some scenes together, and then so did T.J. [Thyne] (Dr. Jack Hodgins) and I.”

Michaela Conlin and Eric Millegan

Nicole in Seattle: Will there be another Angela-Hodgins wedding this year?

Conlin: “Well, I will say that I know the ex-husband is arriving—I believe it’s happening in the last two episodes of this season. And I’m hoping to sit in on the casting sessions. There are gonna be chemistry tests.”

Bones panel at the Paley Center

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

Well, I missed the Buffy panel at the Paley Center, and now I’ve missed the Bones panel. Oh, the disappointment… Makes me jealous of those lucky few who did get to attend - but huge thanks to those who were generous enough to share the experience with us! (maxie & pentacular to be more specific.)

David Boreanaz’s conference call interview

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

Congrats to Lynn at B5’s Bones blog for getting the chance to take part in a conference call interview with David Boreanaz! Wow, how cool would that be? She was one of a few people to interview him, but the first four questions are hers. Check out the full interview below:

Q: I want to talk to you about your creation of the character. How much of Booth is your doing, and how much of it were you given?

David Boreanaz: Well, I was given the pilot. I read the pilot and I created everything that you’re seeing on screen. As far as that character is concerned what you’re seeing physically. It can’t happen without the words, obviously, but as far as the physicalities, the belt buckle, all that stuff that you see is stuff that I brought to that character.

david-boreanaz-picture-1.jpg Q: So what kind of research did you do to find out about FBI agents and their personalities and qualifications?

David: (He laughed) Everything they told me about the FBI I threw out the door, in a lot of ways. I respected it; I went through the idea of it. I took the approach of they guy working for the military and went to the FBI rather than a guy who came right out of Harvard and he’s a penny loafer wearing pencil-pusher guy. That’s a guy that’s afraid to get his feet wet. For me, it was more interesting from the angle of the military guy who was a blue-collar guy. From there, everything exploded. I highly, highly respect what they do and when it comes to using any kind of firearm or entries into buildings I don’t mess around with that. I do it as cleanly and as professionally as I can, the way they would do it. I work with a great guy, Mike Rosso (sp?) on the show, who is with the LAPD who is fantastic, so for me, that is very authentic to a “T.” But the other stuff is character stuff.

Q: Which has been your favorite Bones episode to work on so far?

David: You know, I really enjoy anything I do with Emily, obviously. As far as one complete episode is concerned, I liked the Halloween episode. That was a lot of fun. I got to play a nerd. (laughs) I also liked the season opener of season two, that was a lot of fun. I loved the pilot. You have to go back to the pilot, that’s when it’s fresh and new. The possibilities are endless. (chuckles) It’s always hard to answer those kinds of questions.

Q: Will Booth sing with the American Idol stars?

David: (laughing) You’re going to have to wait to find out. I may dance with the American Idol stars.

Lost’s crossover character on Bones

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

I’m a TV geek. I’ll admit, I’m addicted to TV. As much as I hope and pray I can raise my kids to love the outdoors more than the video games their dad loves, I’m afraid that I don’t have much of an example to set by myself. Maybe that’s why I get such a kick out of seeing crossover characters. I don’t mean when story lines of different shows cross - as they did occasionally in Buffy and Angel episodes - such as when Seth Green had a guest appearance on Angel with the explanation of being on an errand for Buffy. I mean when you see a character who’s not a regular and think, I recognize them from somewhere… This week’s episode The Man in the Mud was just such an episode. I immediately recognized the lawyer, and it didn’t take long to put him in his correct show.

Booth and Bones, meet Mr. Tom Friendly, AKA one of the “Others” on Lost. This week on Bones, he played Braxton Smalls, the lawyer for the the Fitz family. Oh, “he” is M.C. Gainey, and the rest of his resume is forever long. This guy’s another one who’s been in everything!

Another face you might have recognized this past Monday was none other than one of the Lawrence brothers. You remember Joey, right? As in Joey Lawrence - from Blossom? (And from a very abbreviated music career… Sorry, couldn’t help myself - I had to post the video… Now I guess we all understand why he ducked out of the music scene and stuck to acting. How old is this thing anyway?)

Well, the youngest Lawrence brother Andrew played Tim, the kid who took his girlfriend up to the mud pit at the beginning of the episode looking to get lucky. Guess he got more than he bargained for, huh?

Spielberg’s connection to Bones

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

How interesting… I hadn’t made any connection before about Steven Spielberg’s stepdaughter and Bones until a friend of mine pointed it out. Mostly because of the “step” part and the fact that her last name doesn’t ring any bells by itself.

Jessica Capshaw has had a recurring role in Bones as Rebecca Stinson. If you don’t recongize the name, I’m sure you do know the person. She plays Booth’s son’s (Parker) mother. Also interestingly enough, she’s played opposite David Boreanaz before.

The Man in the Mud

untitled-1.jpg

Here’s a quick clip to preview tonight’s ALL NEW episode of Bones. I don’t need to tell you it’s going to be great, but if you have any doubts whatsoever, just check out the preview below. But, if you don’t want anything spoiled for our return to new eps, please just stop here. I mean it!

Otherwise, watch away! You’re going to love it…

What did I tell you? The cast is back in their usually great rare form and it’s going to be a great final few episodes of this season. (Curse that writers strike that kept us from new episodes this long! Oh well, sucks for us I guess.)

I’m curious to see if the horse is really his and was that a moment of male bonding with the “cheese” thing? That and the “brook trout” line - they’ve got to have so much fun making this show… Oh the drama - the suspense! Can we wait another - how many is it? - hours?

Tonight’s episode previews

Monday, April 14th, 2008

spoiler-alert.jpg

If you like to just watch the episodes as they come, DO NOT read or view any further! Here are some GREAT clips - NOTE!! I said CLIPS, not previews!!! - from tonights episode - just enough to whet your appetite even more before we start back with tonight’s ALL NEW episode of Bones! (Like any of us needed the additional suspense! At least our wait is over! Hallelujah!)

A special note of thanks to supernatural66 for posting these!

I LOVE the cheese joke (from the previously posted preview) - it goes so well with the “serious as a gas attack” line. The writers of the show are just too awesome. So enjoy the clips - or don’t and wait until tonight. But either way, don’t forget that tonight we start back with all new Bones. There’s only a few episodes left before we’re back to waiting until next season, so enjoy them while they last!

About Watching Bones

Who doesn’t love forensic anthropology? Okay, so maybe not, but throw in David Boreanaz and an FBI agent and former sniper along with Emily Deschanel as anthropologist-by-day and best selling author-by-night, as well as other awesome cast members TJ Thyne, Micheala Conlin, Tamara Taylor, and Eric Millegan, and you’ve got a mix for an awesome show. That’s just what you get with Bones. A crime drama that has great wit, great writing, and obviously a great cast; Deschanel’s character Temperance “Bones” Brennan is socially illiterate, although brilliant, and balances out Boreanaz’s character Agent Seeley Booth as they work together to solve sometimes years-old murders. Backed by the “squints” at the Jeffersonian Museum, this team is unstoppable, but it’s the people and the relationships that really make the show. Don’t miss a minute of it!
