Watching Bones

I get a kick out of the Countdown in the TV Guide magazine. It’s different each week and spotlights different shows and actors. I especially like to see my favorite shows/people in the article. Bones has made the countdown list twice in the past few issues of the magazine.

Back in October, David Boreanaz made the list - topped it actually at number 1 - as the countdown took a look at TV’s sexiest undead creatures. While audience favorite Mick St. John from the recently canned show Moonlight made the list at number 6, David screamed past him as Angel from the Buffy/Angel series favorite sexy vampire at number 1. They said:

Tall, dark and deadly never looked so good. From the first night Buffy’s 270-year-old bloodsucking beau started lurking on the mean streets of Sunnydale, it was clear that beneath the leather jacket, buffness and super-sharp teeth resided a tortured soul - one legions of fans would risk their neck to comfort.

Coming to E! on May 1st, the Asian Excellence Awards will honor Asian and Asian-Americans in film, tv, music, and performing arts. Since Michaela Conlin is the bill, it only makes sense that she would be nominated! Conlin plays Angela Montenegro on Bones, a free spirit who has bewitched co-worker and resident dirt and bug guy Jack Hodgins. She’s one of the squints who tells it like it is and is always encouraging Bones to enjoy herself and to open herself up to love. Conlin is of Chinese and Irish descent, which is probably where she gets her exotic beauty from. She stared in MDs and The DA before she landed her role in Bones, where she’s truly made the role her own.

In an interview with the New Zealand Herald, she said, “I really liked Angela’s voice from the very beginning. She’s very irreverent. To have that quality in a young woman on screen to start with, I knew that I wanted to play her.” She went on to explain that after playing the part for so long, “you become the character and the character becomes you over the length of time we’ve been shooting.”

While we’re on the topic of the Genesis Awards, here’s a shot of Michaela and Tamara. Isn’t Tamar beautiful? Hope she keeps that gorgeous hair! But Michaela, where’s your beautiful smile? Come on, flash us those pearly whites!

Looks like Bones made the nominations for the Genesis Award this year! This was the 21st year for the awards ceremony that honors media for raising awareness about animal cruelty. The episode Bones has been specifically nominated for is The Woman in Limbo, the last episode from the first season. Held this past Saturday in Beverly Hills, David and Emily were just a few of the celebrity presenters. (We’ll have to wait until they update their site to find out who won what.)

Emily said about the Genesis Awards, “the Genesis Awards are a powerful way to illuminate animal rights issues. “As humans, we’re animals as well,” she said. “We may have higher intelligence, but look at what we’re doing with it—destroying the earth. Awareness is such an important aspect of animal rights.”

Okay, so maybe I’m a little late, but it’s always worth taking note when a show as awesome as Bones gets a nod from any kind of award! This November, Bones won the 2006 Most Compelling Television Drama from the Diversity Awards. Congrats to the cast and crew of Bones!
