Baby Stewie on Bones!

Monday, May 4th, 2009

Untitled-1

When I first read about this week’s guest star online a few weeks ago, I didn’t believe it. Even after seeing it on a few reputable sources, I was still hesitant to believe it. Call me skeptical. But it’s true, and this week, our honored guest star is none other than baby Stewie Griffin from Family Guy!

The Doctor in the Den

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

Untitled-1

This week’s Bones episode reads like it’s going to be a real tearjerker. Not only is there the traditional corpse - what kind of Bones episode would it be without one? - but it’s someone from Cam’s past. I guess that’s kind of putting it lightly. It’s Cam’s ex from 10 years ago, Dr. Andrew Welton, and he wasn’t just any old fling or a high school crush. This was a serious relationship - one where she even raised his daughter for two years before it ended.

Now, with the ex found half-eaten outside of a tiger cage after a charity event at the zoo, Cam joins the rest of the squints to figure out just how the good doctor came to be in such a condition. During the investigation, we meet suspect Brandon Casey (guest star Chad Lowe whom I remember best from the TV show Life Goes On) whom is hypnotized by Sweets and Angela as part of an effort to get him to remember exactly what he saw the night of the murder.

One of the more emotional aspects of this episode will be Cam’s interaction with Dr. Welton’s daughter who is now 16 and who also doesn’t remember Cam in the least. With the daunting task of breaking the news of her father’s death to the girl, coupled with the memory of raising her for two years as a young child, their reunion promises to be a tense one if nothing else.

The team will also be joined once again by intern Dr. Clark Edison, who always adds a little fun to the mix as he expresses his discomfort at the group’s lack of professional and personal separation. Add to his dislike for the team’s habit of providing “TMI,” Angela’s self-imposed celibacy (which is making her just a little - okay, a lot - more obsessed with sexual thoughts than normal) should make him extra uncomfortable…

The Princess and the Pear

Well, at least it’s not a Pea…

Untitled-1

Tonight we get another new episode of Bones - and this one is near and dear to my heart. Well, sounds like it will be anyway. As a self-professed comic and sci-fi fan myself, a murder that takes place around “ImagiCon,” a “convention for fans of comic books, video games and other sci-fi genre entertainment,” I can only anticipate that I’m going to love this week’s Bones.

We’ll also get to see more of Agent Payton Perotta (played by Marisa Coughlin) as Booth is out with a “back injury.” As much as I’m going to miss his presence, at least we get a new Bones! And at a comic book convention. How great is that? Kind of reminds me of episode 1:12, Superhero in the Alley… Only instead of finding a man dressed in a superhero costume, they find a woman in a medieval princess dress.

cfisher

Oh yeah, and squint wannabe Fisher is back in this episode. (Colin Fisher played by Joel David Moore.) I’m looking forward to his morbidly depressed attitude. You can’t help but get a kick out of how down he is about everything - and I loved his interaction with Bones last time, especially when she agreed with him. I think he was a little shocked. And if he’s going to admit himself to be a “self-professed geek and expert in the language of sci-fi,” I’m curious to see how he acts about things he’s “passionate” about… Should be a good one!

More Booth background to come!

Monday, February 16th, 2009

Untitled-1

After the episode was over and it was revealed that the introduction of Booth’s little brother wasn’t going to push a wedge in between Booth and Bones, I came to decide that I really liked meeting the younger Booth. He gave us some insight into Booth’s background that helped flesh out who he is a little better. I’m enjoying getting to know some of the characters even more - beyond their relationships with each other that is. And now it looks like we’ll get to find out even more about Booth’s growing-up years as we get to meet Booth’s father and possibly grand-father in upcoming episodes.

According to TV Guide’s William Keck, we will meet Booth’s dad later this season. He is an “ex-military man-turned-barber” and we should probably expect some tension if not some fireworks with the introduction of his character. During sessions with his therapist Dr. Gordon Wyatt (Stephen Fry - yay he’s back!), Booth finally opens up. Have to say I’m surprised to hear that! We learned previously that Booth’s father was an alcoholic and was apparently abusive since Booth would take care of his younger brother Jared. David Boreanaz says “Booth’s father had some issues. We’re going to find out more about how painful it was for me growing up with that man. My grandfather was a much nicer person.”

james-garner1

Booth’s grandfather should also be an interesting addition to the Bones cast - even if he is around for only an episode or so. There’s no official word as of the latest TV Guide info on who will be playing grandpa, but Hart Hanson said that James Garner topped his wish list, which he actually revealed to us in the panel the Bones cast/crew participated in at the Paley Center. Grandpa is a fighter-pilot hero and even saved Booth’s life at one point. Guess we’ll have to wait until his appearance in late April to find out what the story there is…

I’m sure it will be worth the wait!

Gina Torres’s guest spot on bones

Sunday, January 25th, 2009

I love seeing actors/actresses from one show cross over into another show. I like making connections of who I remember seeing in a different show. I especially like when I can make the connection and my husband can’t - guess it’s the competitive spark in me! (That, and the fact that I’m good at this “game” and he’s not… finally something I’m better at than he is!)

gina-torres

Just recently, in The Bone that Blew, I got a kick out of seeing Gina Torres in a guest spot. Her role as suspect Dr. Toni Ezralow wasn’t a huge deal, and she won’t be a re-occurring character, but it was still neat. If you don’t get the connection, you might remember her from her five episode, re-occurring role in Angel - starring alongside of David Boreanaz as Jasmine.

She’s also co-starred with Nathan Fillion in Firefly (and later in the movie Serenity) that was another baby of Joss Whedon, so I guess she’s kind of like David Boreanaz who is pretty well immersed in the Whedonverse. I wonder what it was like for them to be working together again…

Win a role on Bones!

Wednesday, January 14th, 2009

What would you be willing to do for a chance to win a role on Bones? Well, if that’s something you’d be interested in, this is your lucky day! Starting yesterday and running through February 16th, there is an online contest where you can enter to win a role on Bones. What’s the catch? Well, it’s not a “submit your name and hope for the best” kind of deal. Instead, there is a snippet of a script provided that you are to re-enact and video. Once you upload your video entry to the site, people can go online and vote for you - one vote per day per person.

So far there is 29 entries, and you can go check them out to see what kind of competition you’re up against. You must be 18 or older to enter, but there are not other restrictions. The winner will be flown to Los Angeles for the show. Pretty cool!

Looks like the script that you’ll have to re-enact is from The Crank in the Shaft. It’s a scene between temporary squint Fisher (the gothic, depressed guy) and Cam as they examine the skeleton of the woman pushed into the elevator shaft.

Looks like most of the entries so far average about a minute and a half, with only a few over two minutes, so it doesn’t need to be anything incredibly involved. If you decide to enter the contest, you’ll have to let me know so I can go check out your entry. Go on, what do you have to lose?! Good luck to you all and may the best Bonesian win!

Who’s watching Bones?

Thursday, December 4th, 2008

This just goes to show that people really do pay attention to the details! I never would have caught something like this, but I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not the most observant to the little things… I just tonight caught a reference to another movie in a film I’ve seen countless times that I probably should have caught right away…

In TV Guide’s November 17th issue, Capt. MC USN Ret. Thomas Himes wrote in to point out a mistake on the recent Bones episode The Con Man in the Meth Lab. Apparently, the hat that Jared Booth was carrying on the show as part of his character is worn only by full commanders and captains. Booth was supposed to be a Lieutenant Commander. (Not sure myself what the difference in ranks is - but at least I know enough to understand that it does matter!)

Well, we won’t hold it against them, but the people in charge of the details need to watch out - you’re being watched!

Andy Richter in Bones?

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

How cool is this episode going to be? The rumor-mill (okay, so it appears to be more than a rumor - hurray for us!) has it that Bones will be hosting guest star Andy Richter sometime in January as a circus owner/ringmaster. The storyline supposedly goes that Booth and Bones go undercover as a knife-throwing team to work a case. Their pseudo-identities? Buck and Wanda!

Considering Booth’s fear of clowns, this should prove to be pretty interesting… Remember the haunted house with the killer clown? And of course the ice-cream truck with the clown-head that he shot, we couldn’t forget that one! Guess now is as good a time as any to force Booth to confront his fears! I wonder if they’ll throw in a snake charmer for Bone’s sake? It sure would be funny to see her jump on Booth’s back again (in fear, that is!)

Is Booth finally going to get a girl?

Saturday, October 25th, 2008

Well, maybe not. At least not in THAT way. Or then again, maybe so…

Bones has just cast Marisa Coughlin (from Lifetime series Side Order of Life) as Payton Perotta, an FBI agent that comes in to take over after Booth has a conflict of interest with a case. Not only will Booth have to deal with being taken off a case, or having to take himself off a case, but he will also have to endure being interrogated by Miss Perotta as well. And, since we all know how he can bristle under Bone’s scrutiny, it should be pretty interesting to see how he holds up under another - woman - agent’s.

No word yet on how long the new FBI agent will stick around, so we probably shouldn’t be rooting for her just yet. But isn’t it about time that Booth got to have a good relationship? After all, isn’t Bones scheduled to hook up with his brother sometime this season? I mean, come on, it’s only fair. And it’s not like they can expect us to believe that Booth has trouble getting a date… And since we’re probably not going to see Booth and Bones together any time soon (since the fear is that would be the kiss of death…) give us something to work with here!

Anyway, we can expect to see Marisa Coughlin sometime mid-season in an episode titled Fire in the Ice, which will also guest-star ice hockey player Luc Robitaille as himself. Hockey fan that he is, I would think David Boreanaz would appreciate this turn of events!

Brendan Fehr as Jared Booth?

Friday, September 26th, 2008

We’ve finally got some idea of who is going to catch Bone’s eye and ruffle the feathers of the would-be Booth/Bones romance. We’ve been told that Booth’s younger brother is coming to town, and that Bones and he are going to have some kind of a relationship - the kind that spells trouble for any progress they may have made with the Booth-Bones relationship. So just who is this guy? Well, looks like it’s going to be former alien from Roswell, Michael.

When I first read the news on Kristen’s blog from E!, I almost didn’t recognize him. I watched Roswell for the first season or so but then lost interest. I actually had to read down further into the comments to really get a good handle on who he was. And as much as I liked his character on the show, I’m a little disappointed… I know this is the kind of thing that’s completely open to your own opinion, but I thought that he was supposed to be as good looking if not a little more-so than Booth. Personally, he’s not doing it for me. (At least not with this shot.)

Am I being too harsh, or does anyone agree? Still I guess we’ll have to wait and see how he does, I’m sure he’ll carry the character off really well, I have nothing against his acting, so hopefully the writers will give him something really great to work with. Supposedly he’s an “upstanding Navy officer” - so service runs in the family. After this week’s surprise ending, I’m sure they’ll do Booth’s little brother justice! And won’t it be fun to see how they interact and what kind of trouble little brother stirs up - and of course the typical sibling rivalry and stories told on big brother Booth! So far, he’s only signed up for two episodes, but you know how quickly that can change!

More promises of Zack’s return

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

As fun as Clark was on the season premiere, and as interesting as it should be to see who else the squints have to deal with as the interns parade through, those of us who have grown attached to Zack still mourn his defection. Although, many people involved in the show have pointed out that since they didn’t kill him off, we still have the possibility of seeing him again. Well, it looks like we’ve got more solid hope for that coming up!

David Boreanaz, in an interview with TV Guide, revealed that “Zack’s not really going anywhere. We will see him again throughout Season 4, in certain circumstances.” Okay, that’s kind of vague. But wait, there’s more… apparently our hope that Zack will continue to work with the team isn’t too unfounded - at least not entirely. According to David, there will be an episode where Zack once again helps the team with a case, but in doing so he escapes custody. (It’s vague as to whether he is brought to the Jeffersonian to do work or what.) What should be interesting, and maybe a little funny, is that Booth has to be the one to go and put him back in prison.

Also, we can finally rejoice, David tells us that we will finally get a better explanation of how Zack came to be the Gormogon’s apprentice. It’s about time!!! Maybe we’ll also get a better look at what went on while he was in Iraq, and why he was sent home. That would be a nice bit of info to have as well! Guess we’ll just have to hang in there and watch!

Lost’s crossover character on Bones

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

I’m a TV geek. I’ll admit, I’m addicted to TV. As much as I hope and pray I can raise my kids to love the outdoors more than the video games their dad loves, I’m afraid that I don’t have much of an example to set by myself. Maybe that’s why I get such a kick out of seeing crossover characters. I don’t mean when story lines of different shows cross - as they did occasionally in Buffy and Angel episodes - such as when Seth Green had a guest appearance on Angel with the explanation of being on an errand for Buffy. I mean when you see a character who’s not a regular and think, I recognize them from somewhere… This week’s episode The Man in the Mud was just such an episode. I immediately recognized the lawyer, and it didn’t take long to put him in his correct show.

Booth and Bones, meet Mr. Tom Friendly, AKA one of the “Others” on Lost. This week on Bones, he played Braxton Smalls, the lawyer for the the Fitz family. Oh, “he” is M.C. Gainey, and the rest of his resume is forever long. This guy’s another one who’s been in everything!

Another face you might have recognized this past Monday was none other than one of the Lawrence brothers. You remember Joey, right? As in Joey Lawrence - from Blossom? (And from a very abbreviated music career… Sorry, couldn’t help myself - I had to post the video… Now I guess we all understand why he ducked out of the music scene and stuck to acting. How old is this thing anyway?)

Well, the youngest Lawrence brother Andrew played Tim, the kid who took his girlfriend up to the mud pit at the beginning of the episode looking to get lucky. Guess he got more than he bargained for, huh?

American Idol themed episode of Bones

Sunday, December 16th, 2007

brandonrogers1.JPG We’ve seen various members of the Bones cast at different American Idol performances, so I guess it was just a matter of time before we saw a little bit more of our current pop culture in the show itself. Coming in March, one of the new episodes we’ll get to see, one of the last ones shot before the strike shut everything down, is called The Wannabe in the Weeds. And, it wouldn’t be a true American Idol-esque show without someone from the show. No, we’ll not see Simon, Paula, or Randy on Bones (wouldn’t that be weird!), but we will be getting some previous contestants.

Season 5 contestant Ace Young and season 6 contestant Brandon Rogers will be guest starring. Brandon talks about it briefly on his Myspace page, sharing that “[Ace’s] part in the show is WAY more integral to the story line than mine, but I’m not jealous. Good sportsmanship, and besides, a role on Bones is a role on Bones.

Oh yeah, and there’s a rumor that “something bad may happen to Booth and Bones at the end of the episode, but according to the “great intel on Michael Ausiello’s “Ask Ausiello, all the verification we’ll get for now is that no one dies. Thanks for the great info Michael! However, Kristen at E!Online gives us a little bit more – she tells us to expect a cliffhanger episode, and that the ending will most likely “be more difficult for Brennan than for Booth. (Oh yeah, and she also refers to someone “suffering physically as well… like I mentioned earlier – so maybe I’m not as out of touch as I’d thought since she was referencing episode 12 and we’re waiting until next stinkin’ year to see this episode!)

Junkie guy in Man in Mansion ep

Monday, February 19th, 2007

reid-scott.jpgFor those of us wondering about the junkie-youth center worker guy in the last episode of Bones, his name is Reid Scott. He played Robert Fraiser - who turned out to be the murderer of the rich Terry Bancroft, long-time friend of Hodgins. Scott has guest-stared in various TV shows, mostly in It’s All Relative, CSI, American Dreams, and My Boys. He’s also currently filming a film called Amusement, about three women being stalked by a killer. Keep an eye out for him!

Dude! Guess who was a guest star?

Thursday, February 8th, 2007

alex-winter.jpgThis is just too good! We get the treat of seeing “Bill S. Preston, Esq.” or, Alex Winter, in the upcoming episode of Bones. I haven’t kept up with his career, but I’m not ashamed to admit that I grew up with Bill and Ted as they had their “excellent adventure,” and later their “bogus journey.” I’m really looking forward to seeing him flex his acting muscles again and am curious to see how far removed from his Bill & Ted character he is. Something tells me that Bones won’t tolerate anyone remotely similar to Bill S. Preston, regardless of how excellent he is…

About Watching Bones

Who doesn’t love forensic anthropology? Okay, so maybe not, but throw in David Boreanaz and an FBI agent and former sniper along with Emily Deschanel as anthropologist-by-day and best selling author-by-night, as well as other awesome cast members TJ Thyne, Micheala Conlin, Tamara Taylor, and Eric Millegan, and you’ve got a mix for an awesome show. That’s just what you get with Bones. A crime drama that has great wit, great writing, and obviously a great cast; Deschanel’s character Temperance “Bones Brennan is socially illiterate, although brilliant, and balances out Boreanaz’s character Agent Seeley Booth as they work together to solve sometimes years-old murders. Backed by the “squints at the Jeffersonian Museum, this team is unstoppable, but it’s the people and the relationships that really make the show. Don’t miss a minute of it!
