And just who is Roxy?

Monday, August 11th, 2008

Season 4 is shaping up to be a fantastic season. The promise of meeting Angela’s husband, seeing Hodgins in a fight with him, the continued Booth/Bones romance, and seeing how the team deals with not only Zack’s break from reality and being locked up but the presence of a continual stream of new interns - well, it certainly shouldn’t be dull!

But, there’s one more twist that we have to look forward to this season. At Comic Con, it was revealed that another one of Angela’s relationships will come back to haunt her and put yet another obstacle between her and Hodgins. So what’s so fantastic about that you ask? The past relationship just happens to be an ex-girlfriend named Roxy.

Here’s a quick clip shot from someone in the audience - not great quality by any means, but here it is as those attending got to see it…

If you remember, we were “introduced” to Roxy by the PI Angela and Hodgins hired last season to track down Angela’s husband. While gathering info on the couple, she dug up info on Angela from “a girl named Roxy, whose heart you broke in second-year art school.” I don’t know about you, but even though I heard this in the episode, since the focus was on finding Angela’s husband, I didn’t give it too much thought, so it should be interesting to see this little tid-bit of info come back to bite Angela in the butt. I wonder if it was the PI’s quest for info about Angela that stirred up all those long-hidden feelings that has caused Roxy to resurface after all this time…

As of right now, casting hasn’t been made known; same about the “when” of her appearance. Guess we’ll just have to wait and watch to see!

Michaela Conlin’s cut scene

Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

If you were as excited to see Michaela Conlin in Enchanted as I was, and then saw the movie and the teeny, tiny little part that she had, you were probably every bit as disappointed as I was. However, with the release of the DVD, we are privy to the “extras” that have become such a staple to our home movie viewing pleasure.

In this short clip, the guy explains that they cut the scene because they didn’t think it was needed. Okay, sure, whatever. But, if you’ve seen the movie - SPOILER COMING IF YOU HAVEN’T - this really goes along well with the end scene!

Happy B-day Michaela Conlin!

Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

My most humble apologies for missing this yesterday! Michaela Conlin celebrated the last year in her 20’s yesterday, June 9th. Yes, this is year 29 for Michaela! Enjoy every minute of it and I hope you had an awesome birthday! Remember, it only gets better as you get older!

Hodgins said what?

Monday, May 5th, 2008

I can’t even begin to imagine how these people get their hands on the info they do - I crawl the web as often as my 15-month-old will let me for new scoops, but apparently I’m not looking in the right places (or I don’t have the right connections.)

The Bones Spoilers on LiveJournal have a slew of spoilers posted (hence the name), but on that they’ve got is just too good not to share. So, here goes:

spoiler-alert.jpg

Looks like some of the lines from the upcoming The Finger in the Nest has been leaked, and these guys were kind enough to share. One of the lines for TJ Thyne’s character Hodgins is: “First, my best friend who used to work here, with me, he got into some big trouble and… he’s locked up now and I miss him…”

emillegan.jpg

Okay, we can assume he’s talking about Zach since we already know that Bones is getting a new grad student. But what’s he locked up for? Some of the speculation on the boards is that he’s Gormagon, but I don’t buy it. I’m going to guess it has something to do with the time he spent in Iraq - we never did get the full story on why he came home like he did. I don’t think he was a deserter or anything, and I don’t expect it to be anything huge, but who knows, I could be seriously surprised. And with awesome writers like the show has, I’m sure the way it pans out will be great.

Also, later he also says: And Angela - you know Angela, she and I used to - we were engaged to be married, and well, that went south, too.

I don’t know what to think about this one. If you believe Ausiello, we’ve been promised more kissing - but not necessarily from Bones/Booth, so I assumed it was the Angela/Hodgins deal. Maybe not? But really, can you see the writers breaking up our only satisfying relationship on the show? Oh well, guess we’ll have to wait and see! What agony!

Michaela Conlin & the Asian Excellence Awards

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

Coming to E! on May 1st, the Asian Excellence Awards will honor Asian and Asian-Americans in film, tv, music, and performing arts. Since Michaela Conlin is the bill, it only makes sense that she would be nominated! Conlin plays Angela Montenegro on Bones, a free spirit who has bewitched co-worker and resident dirt and bug guy Jack Hodgins. She’s one of the squints who tells it like it is and is always encouraging Bones to enjoy herself and to open herself up to love. Conlin is of Chinese and Irish descent, which is probably where she gets her exotic beauty from. She stared in MDs and The DA before she landed her role in Bones, where she’s truly made the role her own.

In an interview with the New Zealand Herald, she said, “I really liked Angela’s voice from the very beginning. She’s very irreverent. To have that quality in a young woman on screen to start with, I knew that I wanted to play her.” She went on to explain that after playing the part for so long, “you become the character and the character becomes you over the length of time we’ve been shooting.”

Michaela Conlin shares diet tips

Saturday, January 5th, 2008

mconlin.jpg The holidays are over and now is the time of year that everyone is making their new year’s resolutions. Most of those include some form of diet or health resolution; to eat better, to eat less, to work out more, etc…

Michaela Conlin along with Ali Landry, Giuliana Rancic, and Eva La Rue share their diet and exercise tips in a FoxNews article. We’ve all heard over the years that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It’s easy to skip out on though, considering most of us would prefer a little more sleep and make due with a cup of coffee on the go. However, Michaela has taken this advice to heart. Her personal favorite for breakfast is oatmeal and yogurt. She is also a big fan of juice.

She said, ““I recently got a juicer, and I’m addicted to juicing everything I can get my hands on — beets, carrots and celeryâ€? especially.”

With her work schedule being as crazy as it is, she also admits that she tries to eat more often during the day. (Eating more, smaller meals throughout the day sound familiar? That’s yet another health tip that’s become popular over the years!) Michaela talks about her 12-15 hour days on the set - and you just thought the 10 hour days were bad!

Hart Hanson, Emily Deschanel, and others speak out about the writers strike

Tuesday, January 1st, 2008

GotNews.TV has posted the following interview with Bones creator and writer Hart Hanson on the writers strike. Hart, along with Emily Deschanel, Micheala Conlin, and Eric Millegan address the strike and says that fans can help get things rolling again by writing letters, sending emails and by sending pencils. Yes, pencils. If you check out pencils2mediamoguls, you can send a box of pencils to the studios show your support for the writers. The hope is that they will come back to the table for more talks with a better outcome than we’ve had previously. The site says that the point of all of this is “we want the media moguls to start negotiating in good faith. We want the strike to end with a fair deal for both sides.”

Nikki Finke says, “Now is the time to save ALL our shows. Mail pencils to the AMPTP and to any studios whose shows you enjoy… Maybe we can help the studios see just how much support the WGA has. And maybe, just maybe, we can give them a graceful way out (not because they’re buckling under the writer’s demands, but because they care so much about their audience. Us. And isn’t that supposed to be their job?”

As much as I would hope that as the fans and viewers of the shows that we could make a difference, it seems that more often than not it comes down to the money. However, if they don’t keep the viewers happy, I guess that will hurt their pocket books in the long run… I hope that our efforts as fans DO have an impact, so definitely take the time to send a box of pencils if you can (it’s only $1) or send a letter or email. The site also has the names and addresses of the six media moguls - the men that run the multi-media conglomerates - and who are in charge and actually have the power to make a difference. They’re the people we need to contact - in a NICE, POLITE way please!

One of the really great things about the pencils2mediamoguls campaign is that any money left over will go to the Union Solidarity Fund, which supports the non-WGA members affected by the strike. I just think this is an awesome thing! Oh, and if you’re concerned about the waste of pencils, the vendor who is supplying them makes them from sustainably harvested wood (they don’t deforest) - Emily would be proud!

Emily Deschanel participates in Women for Women

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

edecwfwid6.png
We all know how involved Emily Deschanel is in good causes. She’s shown us she’s concerend for animals through her animal activist pursuits and veganism, and now she’s joined with other big names to take part in a private trunk show hosted by Michelle Jonas. The show was to raise money for women in Congo to help them rebuild their lives through a group called Woman for Women International.

Oh that other starlets would take a page from Emily’s book! She was joined by co-star Michaela Conlin as well as Jacinda Barrett, Heather Graham, Amy Adams, and Melanie Lynskey. (You’ll recognize Amy Adams from her recent movie Enchanted, in which you will also catch a glimpse of Micheala!)

Apparently Emily has an eye for fashion among her many other talents, for she was giving the other girls there advice on the dresses they were choosing. “I can’t help stating my opinion. I tend to give practical advice,” she said. Also, while they were there, Emily and Micheala traded stories on their new homes and lack of furniture, although with their taste and salaries, I’m sure their homes weren’t bare for long!

Michaela Conlin on Enchanted

Saturday, December 1st, 2007

michaela-premiere.jpg

There’s really no question about how beautiful Michaela Conlin is, and she could definitely carry the role of a princess. However, much to our disappointment, she only gets to be the princess’s friend in the new film Enchanted. Regardless, Michaela is always enchanting! Even though her part is a little on the small side, look for her on the big screen if you’re looking for a good holiday movie.

The funny thing is that Michaela has already worked with one of the stars of the film, Patrick Dempsey, who is known for his nickname “McDreamy. She said of her costar, “He’s such a wonderful actor, so for me, that’s what makes him sexy!

For us Bones fans, we tip our hats to her as she admits that she prefers working on drama over romantic comedies. She said that “romantic comedies tend to make [her] a bit depressed. They almost always have a perfect ending with everything tied up perfectly. Amen to that!

I searched and searched for a picture of Michaela in Enchanted to share with you, but I was completely stumped. The best I could do was a shot of her at the films premiere. I also found a shot of Emily Deschanel. There’s Carrie Underwood in an awful pink dress and Teri Hatcher, and plenty of others, but no Michaela in action. Go figure… Guess we’ll just have to make due with seeing the film!

While we’re on the topic of the Genesis Awards, here’s a shot of Michaela and Tamara. Isn’t Tamar beautiful? Hope she keeps that gorgeous hair! But Michaela, where’s your beautiful smile? Come on, flash us those pearly whites!

Michaela talks about the wedding

Monday, June 4th, 2007

michaela-1.jpg In an interview with Zap2It, Michaela talks about the final episode and the wedding of the season! She talked about the stress of filming the episode, saying “I didn’t realize — I don’t know why — that even though I was just playing a bride and not really getting married, you still go through all the stress of fitting the dress and taking the pictures and walking down the aisle and all that.”

She also talks about having Billy Gibbons from ZZ Top play her father. Apparently, filming a wedding got to him also! Michaela said about Billy, “when we were standing in the foyer before the doors opened to walk down the aisle, he looked and he’s like, ‘My heart’s really beating. This is nervous.’ I said, ‘Why?’ He said, ‘It all feels so real.’ And it does. The production values are so high.”

Check out the rest of the article at Zap2It to read more from Michaela.

Kristin’s blog part 2

Friday, March 23rd, 2007

bones-cast.jpg Kristin from E! Online has part 2 of her Bones-nanza up and ready for your perusal - so don’t miss it! She’s got some great interview questions with TJ Thyne, Tamara Taylor, Eric Millegan, and Micheala Conlin. Seriously, no repeats, no typical “is Bones and Booth going to get together” (ok, so that one is brought up once…but I guess that is the one token question that we just can’t escape).

Micheala’s beautiful self

Monday, March 12th, 2007

michaela-conlin-1.jpgI just had to share this image of Micheala I found - I love the outfit! (thanks to BuddyTV…) She’s just so enchantingly beautiful. It’s hard to believe there’s only a few months difference between her and myself! It always makes me feel a little slack when I see these people who are either my age or so much younger who have accomplished so much, but I guess I really shouldn’t be comparing my life to theirs…

About Watching Bones

Who doesn’t love forensic anthropology? Okay, so maybe not, but throw in David Boreanaz and an FBI agent and former sniper along with Emily Deschanel as anthropologist-by-day and best selling author-by-night, as well as other awesome cast members TJ Thyne, Micheala Conlin, Tamara Taylor, and Eric Millegan, and you’ve got a mix for an awesome show. That’s just what you get with Bones. A crime drama that has great wit, great writing, and obviously a great cast; Deschanel’s character Temperance “Bones Brennan is socially illiterate, although brilliant, and balances out Boreanaz’s character Agent Seeley Booth as they work together to solve sometimes years-old murders. Backed by the “squints at the Jeffersonian Museum, this team is unstoppable, but it’s the people and the relationships that really make the show. Don’t miss a minute of it!
