The Doctor in the Den

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

Untitled-1

This week’s Bones episode reads like it’s going to be a real tearjerker. Not only is there the traditional corpse - what kind of Bones episode would it be without one? - but it’s someone from Cam’s past. I guess that’s kind of putting it lightly. It’s Cam’s ex from 10 years ago, Dr. Andrew Welton, and he wasn’t just any old fling or a high school crush. This was a serious relationship - one where she even raised his daughter for two years before it ended.

chad-lowe

Now, with the ex found half-eaten outside of a tiger cage after a charity event at the zoo, Cam joins the rest of the squints to figure out just how the good doctor came to be in such a condition. During the investigation, we meet suspect Brandon Casey (guest star Chad Lowe whom I remember best from the TV show Life Goes On) whom is hypnotized by Sweets and Angela as part of an effort to get him to remember exactly what he saw the night of the murder.

One of the more emotional aspects of this episode will be Cam’s interaction with Dr. Welton’s daughter who is now 16 and who also doesn’t remember Cam in the least. With the daunting task of breaking the news of her father’s death to the girl, coupled with the memory of raising her for two years as a young child, their reunion promises to be a tense one if nothing else.

The team will also be joined once again by intern Dr. Clark Edison, who always adds a little fun to the mix as he expresses his discomfort at the group’s lack of professional and personal separation. Add to his dislike for the team’s habit of providing “TMI,” Angela’s self-imposed celibacy (which is making her just a little - okay, a lot - more obsessed with sexual thoughts than normal) should make him extra uncomfortable…

Continuting speculation for Bones future…

Untitled-1

Holy crap! It keeps getting better and better. I’ve had this video up and open on my computer for I don’t know how long now, but just recently got around to watching it. Between this video and a recent article in TV Guide, we not only get info on upcoming Bones that is tantalizing but also reliable - considering it came from show creator Hart Hanson and producers Barry Josephson and Stephen Nathan!

The video interview also talks about the circus episode where Booth and Bones went under cover as a Russian knife throwing act - kind of funny. But the big news is a real twist in the storyline where Bones considers having a kid. Not only a kid, but a kid with Booth. I’d heard rumblings of this before, but considering the source, this can’t be ignored.

I wonder how much mileage they’ll get out of that story arc and how far they’ll take it? I can’t really see a pregnant Bones working cases - at least not in the field. But in the lab, okay, maybe. But morning-sickness and corpses? I know how some pregnant women feel about raw meat, I can imagine her line of work would be a bit of a handicap for her… But I suppose there’s plenty of time for discussion, arguments, and logic to intervene before a child is actually brought into the picture.

Wow. It gets better and better. And the possibility of getting Emily Deschanel’s sister Zooey to guest star as well as seeing more of Booth’s family, Bone’s family, and Stephen Fry as Booth’s shrink - yay! Sign me up!

The Salt in the Wounds

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

Untitled-1

Tomorrow night get ready for a salty treat from Bones! Ugh, I know, really bad… The episode, The Salt in the Wounds, finds the corpse of the week to be Ashley, a high school student, and volleyball player, who has been missing for three weeks. Her body is found buried in salt in a de-icing truck. The victim is not only petrified but turns out to have been pregnant at the time of her death (wonder if that will make this a double homicide?). During the investigation, the squints are surprised and the press gets involved when it appears that there is a “pregnancy pact” going on with the girls volleyball team since almost half of the teammates either are currently or have been pregnant.

As a side-note to the main event, we’ll also see how things are going between Angela and Roxie (I’d kind of thought that relationship had been dropped since it’s been so long since we’ve heard about her, but then again maybe I just wasn’t paying attention…). As they discuss getting a dog - which I thought was kind of weird, Angela doesn’t strike me as a dog-owning kind of person - the issue brings up other issues for them to deal with.

Looks like a good one to me. I always enjoy watching the dramatization of the whole teen-angst sort of thing. And am so glad I’m not there any longer. Don’t ever want to relive it…

Wonder who our squint of the week is going to be? The rotating interns are kind of growing on me. Never thought I’d say that! (Still miss Zack though.)

The Upcoming Bones that Foam

Saturday, February 28th, 2009

Untitled-1

Two more weeks until the next new episode of Bones! March 12th is the next new episode - titled Bones that Foam - and it should be interesting… (not that that’s unusual or anything new…) Picture this: it’s your wedding day and you’re bungee jumping off a bridge, only to discover a body at the bottom of the gorge. Not exactly what you might choose for a wedding-day celebration, but definitely an unforgettable experience! (Wonder if they’re going to jump in their wedding attire… can’t imagine a bridal gown and train would be very convenient for bungee jumping…)

Back at the lab, the bones start to “ooze” an unknown substance that results in a lock-down at the lab (we’ve had several of those over the years…) and the bones begin to disintegrate. With only a short time to determine the why and how of the victim’s death, the team is racing against the clock to crack this case.

tj-in-towel

Let’s see, the last few times I remember that the lab and the squints have been on lock-down, once it was Christmas, we saw TJ Thyne in a towel, met Zack’s whole family, met Angela’s dad from ZZ Top, got to see the group exchange gifts, and the other time, Cam almost died after inhaling something that made her foam at the mouth. Hmm, not bad for the lock-down episodes! Did I miss any? I’m looking forward to another lock-down! I just hope Booth gets stuck in with everyone else - what fun would it be for him to be left out?

The Princess and the Pear

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

Well, at least it’s not a Pea…

Untitled-1

Tonight we get another new episode of Bones - and this one is near and dear to my heart. Well, sounds like it will be anyway. As a self-professed comic and sci-fi fan myself, a murder that takes place around “ImagiCon,” a “convention for fans of comic books, video games and other sci-fi genre entertainment,” I can only anticipate that I’m going to love this week’s Bones.

We’ll also get to see more of Agent Payton Perotta (played by Marisa Coughlin) as Booth is out with a “back injury.” As much as I’m going to miss his presence, at least we get a new Bones! And at a comic book convention. How great is that? Kind of reminds me of episode 1:12, Superhero in the Alley… Only instead of finding a man dressed in a superhero costume, they find a woman in a medieval princess dress.

cfisher

Oh yeah, and squint wannabe Fisher is back in this episode. (Colin Fisher played by Joel David Moore.) I’m looking forward to his morbidly depressed attitude. You can’t help but get a kick out of how down he is about everything - and I loved his interaction with Bones last time, especially when she agreed with him. I think he was a little shocked. And if he’s going to admit himself to be a “self-professed geek and expert in the language of sci-fi,” I’m curious to see how he acts about things he’s “passionate” about… Should be a good one!

A Booth/Bones hook-up is official!

Friday, February 13th, 2009

Untitled-1

It has finally been confirmed - in writing - that a Booth/Bones hook-up is coming! And it’s going to be for real, meaning no dream sequence, no drug-induced lapse in judgment or anything else other than absolutely, for-real, two consenting adults together in bed. In bed meaning actually having sex.

We’ve been teased for what seems like forever of whether or not Booth and Bones would ever get together, and after their kiss last Christmas, we’ve all been wondering when the writers would stop pulling our chain. When they introduced Booth’s little brother, we were concerned. That budding romance was quickly snuffed out (in the very same episode it began!) but we were still left with the ultimate question: will they or won’t they? And if they do, then when?

boothbones-1

Well, it looks like we won’t have to wait too much longer. TV Guide’s William Keck tells us that he spoke with Hart Hanson, the show’s creator, that this year’s season finale we will get to find out that Booth and Bones are “actually in bed having sex. And they won’t be able to just walk away from what happened. It will have serious ramifications.”

I’ll say! After four seasons of their parry and thrust routine, dancing around the issue and making it obvious to everyone around them (including Bone’s own father - who came right to the point with Booth and asked him why he wasn’t sleeping with his daughter!) there’s no way they could just sleep together and then pretend it never happened.

Looks like we’ve got one heck of a season finale coming up… I just hope that their physical connection doesn’t wreak havoc on their working relationship! But hey, they’re two intelligent adults (and the writers are good) so hopefully it will only add to the show…

Spoiler for Jan 15th Bones!

Saturday, December 27th, 2008

We’re all probably salivating for the new episodes of Bones after several weeks of reruns, and we don’t have TOO much longer to wait. January 15th we’ll be getting to see The Double Trouble in the Panhandle - where Booth and Bones go undercover to work in a circus of all things! If that doesn’t sound like fun to you, check out the shot below - if that doesn’t make you want to see it, I don’t know what will.

Anyway, Kristin at E!Online gave us a little bit more insight into the upcoming episode when she answered a fan’s quesiton about what kind of steam we can expect for B & B when the new episodes return…

Kelly in Albany, N.Y.: I am dying to hear some news about Bones! When are we going to see something steamy going on with Booth and Brennan!?
When the show returns on Jan. 15, Booth and Bones will go undercover as married couple Buck and Wanda in the circus after Siamese twins show up dead. Since they have to make everything convincing, the pair will share a bed in their trailer. All I can say is when the trailer’s a rockin’, don’t come a knockin’. And trust me, it will be a rockin’!

Something tells me this probably won’t be our “naked” together scene, but hey, beggars can’t be choosers!

Bones news from Ausiello

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

Check out some of the latest news from Ausiello over at EW - he’s got some pretty interesting news!

Question: Is Zack ever coming back to Bones? — Daly
Ausiello:
According to exec producer Hart Hanson, yes. “We definitely want to have him back,” he says. “But you risk picking that scab too much and people going, ‘Aw, bring Zack back forever.’” Meanwhile, Hanson says the rotating intern experiment has an expiration date. “We don’t to do the Murphy Brown thing,” he says. “But we’re getting a lot of good stories out of these new people coming in and shaking things up in the lab.” Two more interns are on the way, including a devout Muslim (played by Pej Vahdat) and someone who is hearing impaired (not yet cast).

Question: When will Angela’s girlfriend, Roxie, be off Bones? I think she was a terrible add-on to the this season. — Jessie
Ausiello:
Based on this next clue, I think the end is near: The new Muslim intern I mentioned above makes Angela a soothing mix tape after her heart is broken by Roxie. Coincidentally, Hart Hanson tells me that the Angela/Hodgins love story is not over. “We’re not done with them,” he says. “But they have some obstacles to overcome.”

So the news about having Zack back isn’t anything new, but we’re going to be seeing two new interns, one of which may have a thing for Angela - which isn’t a surprise in itself! Remember the British intern who “vroom-vroomed” her? And… Hurray!!! They’re not done with the Angela/Hodgins relationship! I know, I know, that doesn’t mean we’ll see them back together or even walking down the aisle now that she’s officially divorced, but I’m SO glad to hear that they’re not going to just leave things as they are right now. And obstacles - well, those are always good!

Ep 4.11: The Bones that Blew

Monday, November 24th, 2008

A look into the ultra-wealthy and ultra-elite upper class is where this latest investigation takes Booth and Bones. After finding remains that end up being from an ex-marine, the team has to do their legwork to find out why he’s been off the grid for the past few years. An internet search turns up that the victim had been working as a nanny for a wealthy family. And added twist to the investigation is that his bones seem to have been blown around by the wind. (I didn’t realize that bones were the kind of density that could be picked up and moved around by the wind…)

This week’s Bones: 4.10 The Passenger in the Oven

Monday, November 17th, 2008

This week we get to see how Booth and Bones get along under tight confinement - they’re on a flight to China. Of course, as with any crime-fighting duo worth their salt, they can’t go too far without a good murder following them, and they manage to discover a body in the airplane’s microwave. (Can I say yuck!? No food service for me, thanks.) Of course, they can’t let this go un-investigated, so they work to “do their thing” in the remaining four hours they have left on the flight. Once the plane lands in China, the crime scene becomes their jurisdiction, and Booth and Bones have to get their fingers out of it. Doesn’t give them much time… but our guys are good, and hey, they’ll manage to wrap it up in about an hour! (at least as far as TV-time goes!)

Some of the humor we can expect to see is that Bones is flying first class while Booth is stuck in coach - nothing new there. Remember Booth’s accommodation’s in England compared to Bone’s posh place? I was initially confused about why they were going to China in the first place, but turns out that the story is that Bones has been called in to help identify some pre-historic remains and has brought Booth along to help guard her equipment. Doesn’t sound like it’s too important to the story, but at least it explains why they’re flying to China in the first place.

Anyway, it should be an interesting story - confined to an airplane, trying to solve a murder and fild the culprit in a matter of hours. Should be fun!

The Con Man in the Meth Lab

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

What can we look forward to on this Wednesday’s episode of Bones? Other than meeting the much talked-about Booth-brother, here are a few highlights:

* Squint Clark Edison is back! (I thought he specifically asked to not be employed with this bunch? Last time we saw him he was driving Birimbau to the airport and saying that there was too much drama in the lab!)

* A “botched practice police raid” that leads to an explosion that causes a corpse to come flying out of a building. The body turns out to be the father of a “struggling inventory,” and the discovery of another body just furthers the investigation to consider that there’s more to this inventor’s life than a recent reunion with his father.

* A birthday celebration for Booth results in an odd birthday gift as his younger brother Jared shows up in town. Having taken a job with the Pentagon, the younger Booth proves to be a hindrance, or maybe just a headache, to Booth as he upstages him continuously and puts himself in the “alpha male” position over his older brother. Oh, and there’s something about Jared falling asleep while driving, getting arrested, and having to call older-brother Booth to help bail him out.

* Bones goes on a date with Jared to a White House function where she gets her first look into Booth’s background and gains a little more insight into her partner.

I can’t wait to meet Jared Booth and watch how things go with him and Bones. Didn’t really see myself saying that since I’m eager to see the Booth/Bones relationship progress, even if it is ever-so-slowly, but now I’m thinking that postponing their actual “relationship” may be for the best. And if it gives us more insight into Booth, all the better!

The Skull in the Sculpture clips

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

It’s here it’s finally here! We’re back on schedule with Bones, and tonight we’ll get to see the long awaited episode where we meet Roxie! Check out the quick promo clip below:

Not nearly long enough for me, but I guess I’ve only got a few more hours to wait until we can see the whole thing. Oh yeah, and remember how I said that supposedly Roxie had kept a piece of revealing picture of Angela? And how we’d probably not get to see it? Well, turns out that we kind of do. Kind of. And it’s not so much a picture (as in photo) as it is a piece of artwork. (Guess I should have figured that one out…) It’s beautiful, and I’m very please with how they did the shot - nothing too racy, and very tasteful. And I’m SO happy they didn’t hide it from us and just tease about what it was. That would have been really crappy.

SO, on that note, if you want to wait and see it all in the show - DO NOT WATCH the following clip! If you’re like me and just can’t stand it, watch on…

A look into Angela’s head from The Skull in the Sculpture

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

Poor Sweets. When oh when are they going to get him a girlfriend? One he can connect with - one who’s not annoying? For a show that’s “all about the relationships” they sure don’t seem to want anyone to have any! (That’s not a complaint, just an observation.) Angela and Hodgins - sure they were together for a while, our trophy couple of the lab. But look where that ended up. (Still very unhappy about how that turned out, by the way.)

Bones has had various relationships, but none that have stood the test of time - the longest I remember was Sulley, and he sailed off into the blue, without her. Booth - has he even had a relationship in the 4 seasons we’ve watched? I forget. (And Parker’s mom doesn’t count…) Cam seems to just get the leftovers (think Birimbau), and Zack did have a date once, (remember that she was supposed to be the front half of the cow at Halloween? Or was it the back…?) but I don’t know that that counts as a relationship.

So, it’s always interesting to get a look into what makes these guys tick, and why some of their relationships do or don’t work. This is a short, very funny, very sad (for Sweets) clip from the newest episode - The Skull in the Sculpture - of a look into Angela’s world. It’s not so much about the relationship as a while, but relationships and how sex factors into them. Very good insight into how Angela ticks and what makes her who and how she is…

All new Bones back on November 5th: The Skull in the Sculpture

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

Well, we’ve got another week to wait, but at least there’s an end in sight! The next new episode of Bones is scheduled to air on November 5th, and will be episode 4.08, titled “The Skull in the Sculpture.” And it should be a good one… we finally get to meet Roxie! Turns out Roxie hasn’t turned up to deliberately seek out Angela, although their reunion shouldn’t be any less interesting. (Especially since SpoilerFix has reported that Roxie admits to Angela that she considered Angela her muse, and that when they broke off their relationship she lost all inspiration. That and the fact that she has kept a “revealing picture” of Angela all these years. Something tells me we probably won’t get a good view of said picture!)

Episode 4.06: The Crank in the Shaft

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

This week we get to see some people’s dream come true on Wednesday night: an “much disliked office manager” is murdered! Hey, admit it, you’ve worked somewhere for someone where you just couldn’t stand your boss. Hopefully you’d never actually act on the feelings of loathing you had/have, but doesn’t everyone, at some point, dream about their boss ending up 6 feet under?

This week’s episode should fill a lot of office stereotypes - in the well-written way we’ve become accustomed to, of course! The suspects include practically the entire office, ranging from a recently-fired employee as well as the victim’s boss. The preview clip kind of reminds me of Office Space in a way. Maybe it’s just the cubicles

About Watching Bones

Who doesn’t love forensic anthropology? Okay, so maybe not, but throw in David Boreanaz and an FBI agent and former sniper along with Emily Deschanel as anthropologist-by-day and best selling author-by-night, as well as other awesome cast members TJ Thyne, Micheala Conlin, Tamara Taylor, and Eric Millegan, and you’ve got a mix for an awesome show. That’s just what you get with Bones. A crime drama that has great wit, great writing, and obviously a great cast; Deschanel’s character Temperance “Bones Brennan is socially illiterate, although brilliant, and balances out Boreanaz’s character Agent Seeley Booth as they work together to solve sometimes years-old murders. Backed by the “squints at the Jeffersonian Museum, this team is unstoppable, but it’s the people and the relationships that really make the show. Don’t miss a minute of it!
