TJ Thyne in Validation

Friday, January 16th, 2009

“You paid for parking for me?”

Just a short little line from the short film Validation staring TJ Thyne that is just great… Only about 16 and a half minutes long, this video is priceless! About halfway through I was afraid I was going to be disappointed, but I have to say that this film is so much more than what I had expected.

Called Validation because of his job validating parking tickets, it proves to be more about the true meaning of self-validation and of validating others with compliments and encouragement, and TJ Thyne just shines in the film! I’ve always enjoyed him in whatever he’s been in (and he’s been in a lot!), this just really shows off his talent.

What did you think? Did you love it as much as I did? I hope we get many more of these little films with TJ Thyne - I’ve fallen in love with him all over again!

Bones news from Ausiello

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

Check out some of the latest news from Ausiello over at EW - he’s got some pretty interesting news!

Question: Is Zack ever coming back to Bones? — Daly
Ausiello:
According to exec producer Hart Hanson, yes. “We definitely want to have him back,” he says. “But you risk picking that scab too much and people going, ‘Aw, bring Zack back forever.’” Meanwhile, Hanson says the rotating intern experiment has an expiration date. “We don’t to do the Murphy Brown thing,” he says. “But we’re getting a lot of good stories out of these new people coming in and shaking things up in the lab.” Two more interns are on the way, including a devout Muslim (played by Pej Vahdat) and someone who is hearing impaired (not yet cast).

Question: When will Angela’s girlfriend, Roxie, be off Bones? I think she was a terrible add-on to the this season. — Jessie
Ausiello:
Based on this next clue, I think the end is near: The new Muslim intern I mentioned above makes Angela a soothing mix tape after her heart is broken by Roxie. Coincidentally, Hart Hanson tells me that the Angela/Hodgins love story is not over. “We’re not done with them,” he says. “But they have some obstacles to overcome.”

So the news about having Zack back isn’t anything new, but we’re going to be seeing two new interns, one of which may have a thing for Angela - which isn’t a surprise in itself! Remember the British intern who “vroom-vroomed” her? And… Hurray!!! They’re not done with the Angela/Hodgins relationship! I know, I know, that doesn’t mean we’ll see them back together or even walking down the aisle now that she’s officially divorced, but I’m SO glad to hear that they’re not going to just leave things as they are right now. And obstacles - well, those are always good!

Myfanbase interview with TJ Thyne

Friday, October 24th, 2008

Myfanbase has a really great interview with TJ Thyne about playing Jack Hodgins on Bones. Since they’ve very clearly got a “Please do not copy” message at the very top of the interview, I can’t share it with you here, but I CAN tell you that it’s worth the hop over to their site to check it out.

Just to give you some idea in case you’re wondering if it’s a repeat of previous interviews (as some Q&A’s with actors can be), well, not really. They did ask why he was decided to take the role, when TJ Thyne has previously said that he normally shies away from anything “regular,” but the answer wasn’t a rote response. Also, they address the change of the character over the four seasons and the trauma of losing his best friend Zack and his fiance Angela have on who Hodgins is and is becoming. I liked this question because it’s very obvious to see that Hodgins has been greatly affected by these two events, and his sarcastic attitude has gotten even more biting this season. (I’m personally hoping to see him develop it more and smooth off some of those abrasive edges… the scenes of him sniping at Cam and practically asking to be fired just isn’t the Hodgins I’ve come to love…)

Anyway, lots more good stuff in the interview, including his previous work with David Boreanaz, a bit about Theatre Junkies Productions, and what he does in his spare time. Oh, and when and how he came to know he wanted to get into acting. Funny. Check it out and learn a little bit more about what makes Jack Hodgins and TJ Thyne tick!

Men’s Fitness interview with TJ Thyne

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

Check out the interview that Men’s Fitness did with TJ Thyne. It’s a neat look into who this guy is. I’ve always thought that TJ seemed like a really neat, down-to-earth kind of guy, and this interview really supports that impression. In the interview, he talks about how he started in the business, his love for film, TV, and stage, his relationships with co-workers and fans alike, and of course, his fitness routine.

tj-thyne.jpg

He also talked about how Hollywood has moved a lot of production to Louisiana due to the tax breaks of bringing business into the area left devastated by Katrina, which I thought was neat. (He was there working on the film “The Pardon” in which he was Father Richard. The film is about Toni Jo Henry, the only woman ever to be electrocuted by the State of Louisiana. Sounds cheerful.)

TJ also has a few other films coming out soon. He’s finished work on the films The Human Contract and The Last Full Measure. Read on for the whole interview. (more…)

Hodgins said what?

Monday, May 5th, 2008

I can’t even begin to imagine how these people get their hands on the info they do - I crawl the web as often as my 15-month-old will let me for new scoops, but apparently I’m not looking in the right places (or I don’t have the right connections.)

The Bones Spoilers on LiveJournal have a slew of spoilers posted (hence the name), but on that they’ve got is just too good not to share. So, here goes:

spoiler-alert.jpg

Looks like some of the lines from the upcoming The Finger in the Nest has been leaked, and these guys were kind enough to share. One of the lines for TJ Thyne’s character Hodgins is: “First, my best friend who used to work here, with me, he got into some big trouble and… he’s locked up now and I miss him…”

emillegan.jpg

Okay, we can assume he’s talking about Zach since we already know that Bones is getting a new grad student. But what’s he locked up for? Some of the speculation on the boards is that he’s Gormagon, but I don’t buy it. I’m going to guess it has something to do with the time he spent in Iraq - we never did get the full story on why he came home like he did. I don’t think he was a deserter or anything, and I don’t expect it to be anything huge, but who knows, I could be seriously surprised. And with awesome writers like the show has, I’m sure the way it pans out will be great.

Also, later he also says: And Angela - you know Angela, she and I used to - we were engaged to be married, and well, that went south, too.

I don’t know what to think about this one. If you believe Ausiello, we’ve been promised more kissing - but not necessarily from Bones/Booth, so I assumed it was the Angela/Hodgins deal. Maybe not? But really, can you see the writers breaking up our only satisfying relationship on the show? Oh well, guess we’ll have to wait and see! What agony!

TJ Thyne: the guy who’s been in everything!

Friday, April 11th, 2008

I always get a kick out of seeing my favorite actors/actresses in shows or movies (or commercials or cartoons-as voices) other than the shows that I love to see them in regularly. One of a few actors that seems to pop up in the oddest places is none other than Bone’s Jack Hodgins/TJ Thyne. He’s played opposite David Boreanaz in Angel and Michaela Conlin in MDs before he took the role to work with both of them in Bones. His resume is packed with other guest spots: 24, The O.C., My Wife and Kids, CSI:NY, Charmed, Nip/Tuck, Cold Case, Walker, Texas Ranger, and even Friends are just a few of the shows on his list.

tj-thyne.jpg

The TV Addict did an interview with Thyne in November that touched on his appearance in so many different roles. In addition to noting that he was “one of the nicest people around,” it was a really good interview. The question was asked if it was hard for him to play the same character for so long after having been so many different characters. Thyne said,

It’s actually really trippy for me because to be completely honest, I’ve always resisted the whole ’series regular’ thing. Over the years I’ve tested for so many shows and when I got to the studio test, I’d pull myself out thinking — I can’t spend 6 years on a show playing the same character, I can’t do it!

TJ Thyne and Eric Millegan sign autographs

Wednesday, February 6th, 2008

Sometimes you look at an actor in the different roles they play and the interviews they give and they just come across as a nice person. I realize as well as the next person that an actor can have many faces and there’s no way to tell which the real one is, but sometimes a genuinely nice person does stand out beneath the scrutiny of the Hollywood lights.

TJ Thyne and Eric Millegan both appear to be such people. (The rest of the cast doesn’t shape up too badly either - but this isn’t about them!) Lee Hawthorne has a little blog that showcases different autographs from celebrities that have been received over the past year or so. As you may have guessed, both TJ and Eric have provided autographs and they are posted on the sight along with only nine other names. Apparently, TJ Thyne sent an autographed photo as well as a letter, and if you read the inscription on the photo, he mentions Lee’s note and it’s obvious that he actually took the time to read it himself. Eric Millegan sent Lee not one but two autographed photos. (You’ll have to check out his blog to see them both - I only posted the one where the autograph was more clearly legible.) I have to say, I’m impressed. Considering how much fan mail stars must get, to take the time to send something out to a fan - well, that says something about your character.

TJ Thyne at the superbowl

Tuesday, February 5th, 2008

Well, not actually there, at least as far as I can say. But he was visible if you watched the superbowl. Did you see him?

Admittedly, the only reason I usually watch the superbowl is for the commercials. I’m sorry, I’m just not a sports fan. I don’t understand any of the rules or how the points are won, so the games don’t mean too much to me. So, if I watch, it’s usually for what comes in between the game time. This year I was a little disapointed - except for the dancing lizards to Thriller, and the commercial for Pepsi that featured the “What is Love” song from SNL favorite Chris Kattan. However, there was one other commercial that really caught my attention.

Cars.com had a cute commercial on this year during the superbowl that featured TJ Thyne as an educated car buyer who brought a witchdoctor with him to the car lot. Check it out - it’s kind of cute. Not quite dancing lizards or SNL cute, but hey, it’s TJ Thyne!

To see some of the others that I thought were worthy to mention, continue on here… (more…)

TJ Thyne is getting busy!

Wednesday, January 16th, 2008

tj-thyne2.jpg

No, not like that! Come on guys, get your minds out of the gutter!

TJ Thyne has signed on for roles in three new films. One with Jada Pinkett Smith in The Human Contract. Written and directed by Smith, the film synopsis seems a little hazy, but since Smith’s husband, yes, that would be Will Smith, is helping with the project, it should be pretty interesting. IMDB says the film’s outline is “A successful corporate type harboring a deep, dark secret befriends a free-spirited stranger who encourages him to ditch his stuffy lifestyle and live life in reckless abandon.” Is that vague enough for you?

So far all I can tell you about Thyne’s character at this point is that he plays “Greg.”

Next, he’s also he’s going to be in The Last Full Measure, also starring Bruce Willis and Morgan Freeman. Two great names to pair with if you ask me! This one is about a fallen hero and the decision of whether or not he should be given the nation’s highest award 40 years later.

Also, a file called Ball Don’t Lie - named after the book it was based on. According to 3stonesback, this is “An urban coming-of-age story about an obsessive-compulsive ball-player foster kid, Sticky, age 17, who overcomes his sense of isolation through gifted hoop skills, unparalleled heart, an unusual set of mentors and a physical tragedy that forces a crucial break-through as he explodes into manhood.”

Best of luck to you TJ on your up and coming film career - we love you and can’t wait to see you on the big screen!

A different Hogdins? Never!

tj-thyne.jpg

Who would have guessed, TJ Thyne almost didn’t consider the part of “regular” Jack Hodgins. I can’t imagine anyone other than TJ as the bug and dirt loving Hodgins, and I’m so glad he reconsidered! In a recent interview with tvaddict.com, Thyne admitted that throughout his career he had continutally avoided roles that would put him in the part of a “regular.” He said he would get to the studio to try out a part and think, “‘I can’t spend 6 years on a show playing the same character, I can’t do it!…’ To me, the idea of playing different [characters] in different genres was always what I wanted to do.”

It’s a good think he was so impressed with the Bones script! Apparently, the character, script and co-stars were enough of a draw for Thyne. He admits he’s glad he took the risk and is greatly enjoying playing Jack Hodgins.

“Jack’s got a lot of different layers, we’ve got an amazing cast, great writing and [series creator] Hart Hanson is a genius in terms of being a showrunner.â€?

Having previously worked with David Boreanaz on several episodes of Angel and Micheala Conlin on MDs, Thyne had a pretty good idea of who he’d be working with. Regardless of past camaraderie, the entire cast makes a great team, and I am so glad that Thyne took the role!

TJ and “guest”

Monday, July 16th, 2007

Why is it that every time I find photos online of TJ Thyne, if he’s with someone they’re always labeled as “guest”? Do none of them have names? Or is he just extremely hush-hush about his personal life? If so, good for him - I’m just curious!

Here he is, with guest, at the 21st Genesis Awards. (See previous entry about the Bones episode nominated for the Genesis Award.) And I’m loving the gold tie!

tj-gold-tie.jpg

Oh, and just in case you were wondering, Bones won their nomination for the category of best Dramatic Series on television with an episode that “demonstrated the cruel means of slaughtering farm animals.”

TJ clip

Wednesday, June 13th, 2007

Oh, and by the way, did anyone else notice that the guy only shot his monitors? What’s the deal with that? If he wanted to trash his files, wouldn’t he want to shoot the actual hard drive? Just a thought…

TJ’s guest appearance in Fastlane

Wednesday, June 13th, 2007

Here’s a clip of TJ in Fastlane (thanks to sunnyjewellery via Youtube). Personally, this isn’t a show I’ve ever heard of, much less followed, so I can’t give you my two cents worth. However, since we’re all about following our favorite cast, I figured it couldn’t hurt to share a clip featuring one of our favorite squints! Isn’t he just so cute in the glasses? (Yeah, I like his Bones geek-ness better too…)

Bones can take the heat!

Thursday, May 10th, 2007

tj_thyne_bones.jpg Well, we all know that Bones is a great show, and of course TJ Thyne agrees. In a recent interview with Zap2It, he talks about how his character, Hodgins, has changed from the first season and how he’s gone from 100% geek to one of the romantic leads. Since Booth & Bones are taking their own sweet time to get together, Hodgins has stepped up to the plate and TJ says that he definitely prefers the romantic to the intellectual.

“One thousand percent, definitely the romantic, human element is much more fun for me to play. I just love that,” he says. “I don’t know, maybe it’s just me, T.J., is kind of an romantic. The idea of falling for a woman and having to figure out a way of expressing that to her and being confused and just misinterpreting the signs, to me that’s what we all deal with, that’s what life is full of.”

He also welcomes a few more viewers - a few million more to be exact. And, like I said before, as fans of Bones, we all know how good the show is. So, let’s help them out and spread the word and make TJ’s dream come true!

Check out the rest of the interview online!

Kristin’s blog part 2

Friday, March 23rd, 2007

bones-cast.jpg Kristin from E! Online has part 2 of her Bones-nanza up and ready for your perusal - so don’t miss it! She’s got some great interview questions with TJ Thyne, Tamara Taylor, Eric Millegan, and Micheala Conlin. Seriously, no repeats, no typical “is Bones and Booth going to get together” (ok, so that one is brought up once…but I guess that is the one token question that we just can’t escape).

About Watching Bones

Who doesn’t love forensic anthropology? Okay, so maybe not, but throw in David Boreanaz and an FBI agent and former sniper along with Emily Deschanel as anthropologist-by-day and best selling author-by-night, as well as other awesome cast members TJ Thyne, Micheala Conlin, Tamara Taylor, and Eric Millegan, and you’ve got a mix for an awesome show. That’s just what you get with Bones. A crime drama that has great wit, great writing, and obviously a great cast; Deschanel’s character Temperance “Bones Brennan is socially illiterate, although brilliant, and balances out Boreanaz’s character Agent Seeley Booth as they work together to solve sometimes years-old murders. Backed by the “squints at the Jeffersonian Museum, this team is unstoppable, but it’s the people and the relationships that really make the show. Don’t miss a minute of it!
