Episode 4.06: The Crank in the Shaft
This week we get to see some people’s dream come true on Wednesday night: an “much disliked office manager” is murdered! Hey, admit it, you’ve worked somewhere for someone where you just couldn’t stand your boss. Hopefully you’d never actually act on the feelings of loathing you had/have, but doesn’t everyone, at some point, dream about their boss ending up 6 feet under?
This week’s episode should fill a lot of office stereotypes - in the well-written way we’ve become accustomed to, of course! The suspects include practically the entire office, ranging from a recently-fired employee as well as the victim’s boss. The preview clip kind of reminds me of Office Space in a way. Maybe it’s just the cubicles…
We’re also going to be introduced to Bone’s new grad student of the week, Colin Fisher. This is the 20-something depressed kid who’s description reads like he’s a goth wanna-be. Black nail polish and a pierced lip, you get the idea. Can’t wait to see how his addition to the team adds to or upsets their group dynamic! And of course, you can’t forget the ongoing awkwardness that is the Angela/Hodgins non-relationship. We’ll get to see Angela soliciting advice from best friend Brennan on how to deal with working in the same space as ex-Hodgins before giving up and turning to Sweets for help. That should be fun - we saw last week how she blamed him for their breakup in the first place, so I can’t wait to see what kind of advice she gets and how she takes it!
Also, a big congrats to Wendy - you’ve gotten your wish: Cam is out of the lab! At least for a little while… so hopefully we can keep Sweets around and still give Cam a little bit of the spotlight she deserves! (On a side note, I agree, PLEASE give Cam a relationship all her own. She’s a big girl, she can find her own men, and she’s not hard on the eyes, so what gives?!?)
Let’s hope this week’s episode is fantastic, especially since we’ve only got this week and next before they take a break until coming back in November. (What’s THAT all about?…)
Happy viewing!

Overall a nice fun episode (well expect for the whole murder thing). I like the humor of this ensemble.
My favorite parts of the episode:
When Angela comes to Brennan for advice and then has to tell her what to say was hysterical. But even funnier is that after the conversation, Brennan is proud of herself for “helping.”
That when Brennan and Booth went to the office to try to identify the victim the news of Patti’s demised had circulated around the floor before they had even confirmed it was hurt. Gotta love office gossip.
When Fisher was telling Cam about his summer job at the suicide hotline, she had to ask if he was for or against.
