Funny Bones promo shot…

by

I just saw this photo of David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel for a Bones promo shot. Maybe I’ve seen it before, but I really looked at it this time. Is it just me, or is the one skeleton checking out Booth’s rear? And one is laughing!

Great shot! Whoever posed the props - I give you kudos!

Sorry, I looked again - TWO of the skeletons are checking out David Boreanaz’s rear! Just too, too funny…

Happy Birthday to Tamara Taylor

Oh heck, I let it slip by me! Happy belated Birthday to Tamara Taylor - Cam on Bones. She turned 38 yesterday on September 27th. Hope it was a good one!

The PPPP review - kind of

by

Anyone else notice how many P’s that was in last week’s episode? Perfect Pieces in the Purple Pond… Anyway, all in all a pretty good episode - if for nothing else the surprise ending. Unfortunately, I just didn’t have the time to give you a really outstanding review/recap. Not to mention, since there are several people who already have - and done so very well - why re-create the wheel?

Part of me keeps telling myself that this is a baadddd idea - to send you elsewhere for something you could get here, but isn’t that part of what a good fan network should do? Show you other places and resources to look into what you’re interested in? So, on that note, I’ll point you to several places. First, and probably most obviously, check out Fox’s site for Bones - where you can actually watch full episodes online.

Next, check out Wendy’s site for an awesome review of the episode. She’s got a great mix of quotes, personal opinions and insights, along with the traditional recaps. I may not always agree with some of what she says (like the part about wanting less Sweets and more Cam) but that’s not the point.

Anyway, sorry for not posting a recap here, but trust me, you won’t be disappointed by the either of the ones I’ve listed above. Happy reading!

Ouch! David Boreanaz takes his knocks

by

Did anyone watch the Emmys? I didn’t - don’t usually watch that sort of thing. No reason really, just never have. But this year I’m regretting it for the simple fact that David Boreanaz was a presenter. But I guess in all reality that means he was only on the show for a fraction of the time it was on, and apparently it can run a little long. So maybe I didn’t miss too much.

Anyway, the point is that it appears (to me who didn’t watch) that he maybe didn’t do the best job as a presenter… at least if you believe what you read anyway! According to Ken Tucker over at EW.com, David was a little, shall we say stiff? He wrote “Usually the most affable of actors, Boreanaz, … could barely bring himself to look at Conrad.” (That would be his co-host or co-presenter - whatever they’re called - Lauren Conrad from The Hills.)

So, was it really as bad as all that? Or is this just one of those reviews I should take with a grain of salt? Help me out here guys - we all know David is awesome in front of the camera, so what gives?

Brendan Fehr as Jared Booth?

by

We’ve finally got some idea of who is going to catch Bone’s eye and ruffle the feathers of the would-be Booth/Bones romance. We’ve been told that Booth’s younger brother is coming to town, and that Bones and he are going to have some kind of a relationship - the kind that spells trouble for any progress they may have made with the Booth-Bones relationship. So just who is this guy? Well, looks like it’s going to be former alien from Roswell, Michael.

When I first read the news on Kristen’s blog from E!, I almost didn’t recognize him. I watched Roswell for the first season or so but then lost interest. I actually had to read down further into the comments to really get a good handle on who he was. And as much as I liked his character on the show, I’m a little disappointed… I know this is the kind of thing that’s completely open to your own opinion, but I thought that he was supposed to be as good looking if not a little more-so than Booth. Personally, he’s not doing it for me. (At least not with this shot.)

Am I being too harsh, or does anyone agree? Still I guess we’ll have to wait and see how he does, I’m sure he’ll carry the character off really well, I have nothing against his acting, so hopefully the writers will give him something really great to work with. Supposedly he’s an “upstanding Navy officer” - so service runs in the family. After this week’s surprise ending, I’m sure they’ll do Booth’s little brother justice! And won’t it be fun to see how they interact and what kind of trouble little brother stirs up - and of course the typical sibling rivalry and stories told on big brother Booth! So far, he’s only signed up for two episodes, but you know how quickly that can change!

Tonight’s episode 4.05 - The Perfect Pieces In The Purple Pond

by

Tonight’s episode of Bones should be very interesting - not the the show usually isn’t… But a decapitated body lying in a puddle of purple water, well, that’s certainly an unusual way to start out. (But then again, so is glowing bones, and skinny-dipping in a hot mud bath, and, well, I could go on and on.) But, add to the purple puddle Wendell, the new, young intern who appears to be throwing in a little confusion about his position as Bone’s “boy toy” and the deceased person’s lack of head and diagnosis of OCD, well, we should be in for some interesting viewing. (I’m especially interested in seeing how they portray the OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder). If you ever watch Monk, you’ll have some idea of what they could do with it, but to see how they deal with it in a less comedic manner should be interesting. Also, we’ll be getting more of Sweet’s insight into the victim’s psyche, and I’m always excited to see more of Sweets. Funny, didn’t think I’d like him at first…)

Oh yeah, and what about the surprise ending hinted at in the promo clip? And let’s not forget the fact that Zack will help the squints team with insight into the case from his, um, off-site location. That and we get some info on how Sweets has been a regular visitor to Zack, and we are supposedly going to see how Zack is now blaming Gorgomon for his actions. Hmmm, don’t know about that one. With as analytical as Zack is, the finger-pointing game doesn’t really seem to be his thing, but I guess we’ll have to see how it turns out… Not long now!

David Boreanaz’s interview with Bonnie Hunt

by

Here’s a video of David Boreanaz on the Bonnie Hunt Show. He comes out dressed very old Hollywood - very attractive in his suit, but in a laid-back kind of way. I’m not sure about David’s dating advice for finding the right person - telling Bonnie something about how she should be loose and maybe she’d get lucky… Seems to me I agree with Bonnie about the idea of being “loose,” it may lead to someone getting lucky, but doesn’t always mean you’ll be hooking up with Mr. Right!

He talks about his early high school years, his family, and he applauds stay at home moms, saying that its a tough job - hurray for you David! (Of course he then goes on to say that they just don’t know what it’s like out there - in the “real world” - hmmm…. Should I rescind the Hurray?) We also get a really great story of his son wanting to get the “cracker” at communion and how he’s starting Catholic School to study and be able to get his own cracker!

Green Lantern a no-go for David Boreanaz

by

I just don’t get Hollywood. There’s so many decisions and so much politics and money going on behind the scenes, well, I guess I’ll never understand the why’s and wherefore’s. It appears that David Boreanaz is not on the list of actors who is being considered for the role in the live-action version of the Green Lantern movie after all. Talk about disappointments. I knew that when I heard the rumor that it was not guarantee that we’d see David on the big screen - I mean, the movie is still in it’s baby-stages, but at least I had hope.

Apparently, according to the people in charge, he’s too old to play the part. WHAT? Are they crazy? There are so many excellent and valid arguments against that, I don’t even know where to start. They say that the character Hal Jordan is supposed to be 27, and since Boreanaz is in his late 30’s, he’s not a good fit. That’s crap.

Two new recurring characters for Bones

by

Kristen over at E!Online has some new Bones news for us… and it may not be all that welcome to some. There are going to be two recurring characters on the show this season, and neither of them appear to be bringing happiness and sunshine with them. We’ve all heard that Roxy, a past old flame of Angela’s is going to reappear. What we didn’t know until now is that she’s not scheduled to just show up, shock and awe, and then disappear. Seems like she’ll be sticking around for a bit.

Also, we’ve been promised (and promised…) more background on Booth. Well, looks like we’ll get it - and a whole lot more. His little brother Jared is going to be the other recurring role this season. Not only is he going to show up and stick around, but he will be sticking around and sticking with Bones a little bit more than we may like. Instead of seeing Booth and Bones get together, we’ll be seeing Bones hook up with another of the Booth family. So our hopes for seeing them get together will be postponed just that much longer. Emily Deschanel on the cover to TV Guide!

by

It’s so great to see someone from Bones on the cover of TV Guide! It would be awesome to see the entire cast, but I guess we’ll take what we can get!

TV Guide did an article on 4 of TV’s leading ladies, and Emily Deschanel was one of them! (No surprise there!) The article was brief, but fun, and we were graced with not just the cover, but an inside spread shot of the beautiful ladies. (Sorry, I’d tell you more about the article, but I’m across country on a business trip and it’s back at home…)

Anyway, I just wanted to share the images with you in case you missed them. Check out the great shots and let’s celebrate that Bones, and Emily Deschanel, are getting some much deserved attention!

The Finger in the Nest - Ep. 4.04

by

This week’s Bones episode takes a cue from an old Monk episode - where a little boy in foster care finds a severed finger that mounts an investigation of “where did it come from and who does it belong to?” While the Monk episode ended on a relatively happy note - the little boy got a better home and the intended hostage was released (and no one ended up dead), the connection between the two pretty much ends with the little boy finding the finger. Oh yeah, and did I mention that it’s Parker, Booth’s son, who finds the finger?

Of course there’s a body involved, which means a murder. The body shows evidence that the fatal injuries were caused by a dog, the team brings in “dog whisperer” Cesar Millan (as himself) to help with the case.

Wouldn’t you just LOVE to see David Boreanaz on the big screen?

by

Well, if Warner Brother’s gets their act together and uses some of those brains they have on staff, we may just get a chance! It’s no secret that super-hero/comic book movies are making a come-back in a big way (Hurray!), and now they’re rethinking a Green Lantern film. The movie is set to be directed b Greg Berlanti, who has credits like Dawson’s Creek, Everwood, Eli Stone, Brothers & Sisters, and Dirty Sexy Money under his belt.

In case you’re unfamiliar with the storyline, the plot is basically about Harold “Hal” Jordan, an ordinary man who is a second-generation test pilot. He is sought out by an alien, Abin Sur, who’s spaceship has crashed on earth. Abin Sur, who is dying, uses his ring to seek out the man suited to take his place. The ring is capable of finding someone who is “utterly honest and born without fear,” or as later described, “could overcome great fear.”

This movie has so much potential - and paves the way for sequels, sequels, sequels. And even possibly a prequel… See, Hal Jordan wasn’t the first Green Lantern. He was the second man chosen to wield the “power ring,” which gives the bearer “great control over the physical world as long as the wielder has sufficient willpower and strength to wield it.” Also, there have been several Green Lanterns since him. Jordan is just the most well-known and loved version of the Green Lantern, and he was also a founding member of the Justice League of America.

Anyway, there’s no news yet on when they plan to decide, or if this movie will even gain enough momentum, support and enthusiasm to get off the ground. But wouldn’t it be awesome to see David on the big screen? This movie could really get him noticed - not that his isn’t already! Good luck to you David! We’re cheering for you!

Inconsistencies in Angela and Hodgin’s breakeup

by

I really liked Wendy’s observations about the Angela/Hodgins breakup in the season premiere. She really nailed some of the issues I had with the whole storyline and how it played out. However, I was re-watching a few episodes I’ve got saved on my media center in order to erase them to make more space, as well as trying to see any signs that may have been there of Zack’s reality break. There was something else I noticed that stuck out and kind of added to my frustration about the whole breakup.

In the episode The Soccer Mom in the Mini-Van (originally aired Oct. 2007), a bomb squad expert from the FBI comes to the lab to “help” and Hodgins - who’s in a newly begun relationship with Angela - is tripping over himself and practically drooling over this woman. (They actually took a moment to focus the camera on her cleavage to make the point.)

Special Agent Frost walks in in her smart and very attractive business suit and knocks Hodgins over. It’s like he looks up and sees only breasts. Booth tells him that she’ll be working with him, and his introduction to her goes as follows:

Hodgins: Yes please. What? No. Um. Hmm? JHodgins. D,d, doctor. We’re, okay.
Frost: I beg your pardon?
Angela: He’s Dr. Jack Hodgins. Angela Montenegro. I do facial reconstructions. And him.
Frost: Pleasure to meet you.

Part two of the season premiere

by

“Can I touch the brain just once, as a reward?”
“Just once.”

Just some of the great lines from the season premiere of Bones, part two. In case you forgot, we left off after Booth and Bones solved the murder of a young American heiress by none other than the butler. As they were getting ready to leave to go home, Booth got a call from Agent Pritchard - his British female counterpart - to come help with the identification of a body. Her partner, Wexler - Bone’s British male counterpart - has died in his apartment by what looks like a gas explosion/fire.

Second image from TV Guide’s spread on the season premiere of Bones.

It doesn’t take long for Bones to come to the conclusion that his death was not accidental and that their trip home has been postponed indefinitely. Pritchard has taken the news hard, but she pulls herself together to devote herself to finding out what happened to her partner. Booth is great to her, completely understanding and very patient. I loved how they “got” each other. Booth isn’t offended in the least when Pritchard reasserts her role as the officer in charge of the investigation, and Pritchard doesn’t even ask Booth to stay, she just hands him the gun back. It’s like there’s just a common, unspoken language going on between them.

During the investigation, we follow Booth and Bones on multiple false leads, one that lead Booth and Bones to confront Wexler’s rowing mates. The lack of anything resembling respect is humorous, but when the guy head-butts Booth and ends up almost knocking himself out, that was just priceless. He tells the other man there that he has a head like a boulder, which pretty well fits my impression of Booth very well!

David Boreanaz’s tattoo

by

Shame on me - this just goes to show how closely I pay attention to the little details… Aren’t you glad that someone does? The Daily Observer posted and answered one fan’s question about David Boreanaz’s tattoo on this wrist that is apparently sometimes visible in shots of Bones. Here it is with their answer.

Q: I am an avid fan of David Boreanaz from “Bones” and “Angel.” Sometimes on “Bones” I can see a glimpse of a tattoo on his wrists. What is it of? -Debra, via e-mail

A: David and his wife, Jamie Bergman, have matching tattoos on the inside of each of their wrists. They are Kanji symbols, one meaning “soul” and the other “destiny/fate” They say that when they hold hands, their souls and their destinies are joined together.

Here’s what the symbols are supposed to look like up close…

I like to hear that some people have put some thought into what they have as their tattoos. Considering it’s going to be with you for a long time, it should be something that means something to them.

About Watching Bones

Who doesn’t love forensic anthropology? Okay, so maybe not, but throw in David Boreanaz and an FBI agent and former sniper along with Emily Deschanel as anthropologist-by-day and best selling author-by-night, as well as other awesome cast members TJ Thyne, Micheala Conlin, Tamara Taylor, and Eric Millegan, and you’ve got a mix for an awesome show. That’s just what you get with Bones. A crime drama that has great wit, great writing, and obviously a great cast; Deschanel’s character Temperance “Bones? Brennan is socially illiterate, although brilliant, and balances out Boreanaz’s character Agent Seeley Booth as they work together to solve sometimes years-old murders. Backed by the “squints? at the Jeffersonian Museum, this team is unstoppable, but it’s the people and the relationships that really make the show. Don’t miss a minute of it!
