Romance in the lab - Hodgins & Angela
I think it’s interesting to see that TJ Thyne seems to share his character’s opinion of taking risks in relationships. If you remember the episode when Hodgins and Angela went on their date to the park, later Angela backed out of committing to a relationship because she was afraid that if their relationship failed it would fail very badly. If you remember, Hodgins responded with something along the lines of “yeah, but what if it does work out?” implying that he was willing to take the risk. In an interview about the budding relationship between their on-screen characters, TJ says about office romance, “I say fall. Fall hard. Fall in love with whomever that person is, wherever they are - office, grocery store, wherever. It hurts. For sure it hurts not to be loved in return, but it’s love, right? It’s worth is. Especially when it works out. In my mind, it is absolutely, unquestionably worth the attempt to just… see.”
Brave words - and very inspirational and romantic! If only we all had the same guts to put ourselves out there. In the meantime, we’re all watching to see if how their relationship grows because this thing between Hodgins and Angela promises to be a good one! Even Michaela admits that there was something going on between the two characters even before the writers put it in the script. She said that the executive producer admitted that that when they were “in the editing room, they would cut to [Hodgins] and then cut to [Angela] and say, ‘Wow, maybe we should start putting these two together in scenes and see what happens.’”
