Torres and Boreanaz back together

gina-torres.jpgYeah, I know, the title is misleading, but that’s exactly the same reaction I had (and apparently many others too) when I saw a similar claim on the Whedonesque page. For the die-hard Boreanaz fans, you should remember Torres from Angel when she played Jasmine. You remember, the disarmingly evil baby Cordelia had from her one-night-stand with Angel’s son, Conner? The one who tried to take over the world? Yeah, that’s her. (Also, for Whedon fans, you’ll remember her from Firefly - and the movie Serenity.)

Anyway, instead of her joining up with the cast of Bones, she’s got her own show. Apparently, Gina Torres’s show Standoff is going to be following Bones in the new summer Fox lineup. Although I’ve never watched it, it sounds like a good compliment to Bones - the storyline is about two FBI Crisis Negotiators who are attracted to each other. The characters even fit the same mold as Bones and Booth - the lead, Matt, is a guy who doesn’t take stuff seriously and goes on gut instinct and Emily is a scholar who is extremely analytical.

So yeah, I was a little disappointed, but I guess it would be a little hard fitting a demon-god-monster-thing (whatever Jasmine was) into Bones… too bad. I really miss Angel…

Who doesn’t love forensic anthropology? Okay, so maybe not, but throw in David Boreanaz and an FBI agent and former sniper along with Emily Deschanel as anthropologist-by-day and best selling author-by-night, as well as other awesome cast members TJ Thyne, Micheala Conlin, Tamara Taylor, and Eric Millegan, and you’ve got a mix for an awesome show. That’s just what you get with Bones. A crime drama that has great wit, great writing, and obviously a great cast; Deschanel’s character Temperance “Bones� Brennan is socially illiterate, although brilliant, and balances out Boreanaz’s character Agent Seeley Booth as they work together to solve sometimes years-old murders. Backed by the “squints� at the Jeffersonian Museum, this team is unstoppable, but it’s the people and the relationships that really make the show. Don’t miss a minute of it!
