Two new recurring characters for Bones

by

Kristen over at E!Online has some new Bones news for us… and it may not be all that welcome to some. There are going to be two recurring characters on the show this season, and neither of them appear to be bringing happiness and sunshine with them. We’ve all heard that Roxy, a past old flame of Angela’s is going to reappear. What we didn’t know until now is that she’s not scheduled to just show up, shock and awe, and then disappear. Seems like she’ll be sticking around for a bit.

Also, we’ve been promised (and promised…) more background on Booth. Well, looks like we’ll get it - and a whole lot more. His little brother Jared is going to be the other recurring role this season. Not only is he going to show up and stick around, but he will be sticking around and sticking with Bones a little bit more than we may like. Instead of seeing Booth and Bones get together, we’ll be seeing Bones hook up with another of the Booth family. So our hopes for seeing them get together will be postponed just that much longer.

I’m not really sure how I feel about this. The whole Roxy thing is just a side-note when it comes to the whole “will they or won’t they” question in the Bones storyline. Since they threw us the shocker of breaking up Angela and Hodgins, anything goes as far as their relationship is concerned. But we’ve watched Booth and Bones grow over the past seasons as partners and friends, with a little unrealized romance brewing. I’m not saying they should just jump right into things and give up the chase - the cat and mouse of it is part of what makes it fun. But at the same time, how many different obstacles are the writers going to throw at them? I don’t know about you, but in my experience of real life, you usually only take so many rebuffs from someone before you take a hint - real or imagined - and drop the pursuit of a relationship.

Also, like so many of the comments on the article said, it’s not just some guy Booth knows or works with this time - it’s his brother. What kind of emotional baggage is that going to throw into the equation? Sure, Bones is analytical and sees sex and love as two completely different things, almost unrelated, but Booth is more old-school. How will this affect them in the long run?

I don’t know, I see trouble ahead, but who knows. I may just be being overly pessimistic. What do you think?

About Watching Bones

Who doesn’t love forensic anthropology? Okay, so maybe not, but throw in David Boreanaz and an FBI agent and former sniper along with Emily Deschanel as anthropologist-by-day and best selling author-by-night, as well as other awesome cast members TJ Thyne, Micheala Conlin, Tamara Taylor, and Eric Millegan, and you’ve got a mix for an awesome show. That’s just what you get with Bones. A crime drama that has great wit, great writing, and obviously a great cast; Deschanel’s character Temperance “Bones Brennan is socially illiterate, although brilliant, and balances out Boreanaz’s character Agent Seeley Booth as they work together to solve sometimes years-old murders. Backed by the “squints at the Jeffersonian Museum, this team is unstoppable, but it’s the people and the relationships that really make the show. Don’t miss a minute of it!
